Ultrasound-guided Injections
Ultrasound-Guided Joint Injections
Targeted Relief for Joint Pain and Inflammation
At The Treatment Room Group, we offer ultrasound-guided joint injections to help reduce pain, ease inflammation, and improve movement in painful or stiff joints. Using real-time ultrasound imaging allows our clinicians to deliver injections with precision, ensuring treatment is placed exactly where it’s needed.
This service is available following an Initial Injection Assessment to make sure it is safe and appropriate for you.
What Is an Ultrasound-Guided Injection?
An ultrasound-guided injection uses an Ultrasound scanner to visualise your joint and surrounding soft tissues during the procedure. This allows the clinician to guide the needle accurately into the correct area, rather than relying on touch or anatomy alone.
This improves accuracy, comfort, and effectiveness.
What Conditions Can Be Treated?
- Knee, hip, shoulder, or ankle joint pain
- Osteoarthritis
- Joint inflammation and swelling
- Bursitis
- Tendon-related pain
- Stiff or painful joints limiting daily activities
Types of Injections We Offer
Hyaluronic Acid Injections
Hyaluronic acid is a naturally occurring substance found in healthy joints. It acts as a lubricant and shock absorber, helping joints move smoothly and comfortably.
In some joint conditions, particularly osteoarthritis, the natural hyaluronic acid in the joint becomes reduced or less effective.
Hyaluronic acid injections may help to:
- Improve joint lubrication
- Reduce stiffness
- Support smoother movement
- Provide longer-lasting symptom relief for some patients
Relief may develop gradually over several weeks and can last for several months, depending on the individual.
Steroid Injections with Local Anaesthetic
A steroid injection is used to reduce inflammation within a joint or surrounding tissue. The steroid is combined with a local anaesthetic, which provides short-term pain relief during and immediately after the injection.
Steroid injections may help to:
- Reduce inflammation and swelling
- Relieve pain more quickly
- Improve movement
- Allow better progress with rehabilitation
What to Expect on the Day
- A full clinical assessment and explanation of your treatment options
- Ultrasound imaging to identify the exact injection site
- A clean, sterile procedure using real-time ultrasound guidance
- Clear aftercare advice before you leave
After the Injection
- You may be advised to rest the area for 24–48 hours
